As an innovation consultant, I've facilitated collaboration between international media corporations; led the re-thinking of a city's renovation project; sparked the re-inventing of an airline seating application; and surfaced insights from a media company's audience habits. I've also developed and prototyped an Apple Watch game for people who are blind.

My approach exists at the intersections of empathy, strategic failure, iteration, and play. While I am most passionate about causes related to equity and social good, I consider all ideas.

At the University of Nevada, Reno, where I am an emeritus professor, I created and taught the school's first courses in Human-Centered Design & Innovation. I'm also an SXSW Conference Speaker Assistant.

I’ve been an assistant professor at Ball State University and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and a visiting professor at the University of Missouri.

As a member of the Microsoft Campus-based team that launched MSNBC.com, I served as a multimedia producer. I’ve also been a picture editor for both the Associated Press and United Press International in Washington.

I hold a master’s degree in communication from Syracuse University, bachelor’s degrees in English and Journalism from the University of Missouri and a certificate in Human Experience Design from Cornell University.
